Sustainability
Sustainable travel is in our DNA
Climate change and global warming pose significant threats, leading to desertification, water scarcity, and loss of biodiversity, which are pressing concerns. To maintain global temperature rise below 1.5°C, we support the Paris Agreement, recognizing our responsibility as a business organization to contribute to this global effort. By adopting sustainable practices, we aim to mitigate these environmental impacts, safeguard Oman’s natural and cultural heritage, and ensure the long-term viability of our tourism industry. Our commitment to sustainability aligns with broader international goals and reflects our dedication to a resilient and sustainable future for the tourism sector.
Since our inception, crafting sustainable travel experiences through Oman has not just been an option for Miracle Oman Travel; it’s our passion and utmost priority. Sustainability is deeply embedded in our DNA.
Our sustainability mission
At Miracle Oman, we are dedicated to crafting transformative travel experiences that foster meaningful connections between travelers and the rich culture of Oman. Through a variety of customized projects, we partner with local businesses, artisans, and community organizations, ensuring that each initiative supports sustainable economic growth and preserves Oman’s unique heritage.
We are committed to sustainability, actively aligning our efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By working with eco-friendly partners, minimizing waste, and prioritizing conservation, we strive to protect Oman’s stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and delicate ecosystems. Our projects are designed to create a lasting, positive impact on both the environment and the communities we engage with, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

Mr. Ruwan Jayasekara
When I first worked in Oman in 1996 as a German-speaking trekking guide, I immediately fell in love with the country’s breathtaking natural beauty, extraordinary geological diversity, and the genuine hospitality of its people. Since then, Oman has remained a place very close to my heart.
From vast deserts and dramatic wadis to the green mountain landscapes of Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams, Oman is a country of remarkable ecological and cultural richness. Its diverse ecosystems, unique flora and fauna, and deeply rooted traditions create unforgettable experiences for travellers seeking authentic connections with nature and local communities.
Today, it is a great privilege for me to work with Miracle Oman Travel as an Ecotourism Consultant alongside a passionate international team of tourism professionals and sustainability enthusiasts from different continents. Together, we strongly believe that tourism should not only create memorable journeys for travellers, but also contribute positively to environmental conservation and the wellbeing of local communities.
Ecotourism in Oman offers travellers the opportunity to experience a wide range of nature-based activities while responsibly exploring pristine landscapes and respecting local culture and traditions. One of the most beautiful aspects of trekking through Oman’s mountain regions is the breathtaking scenery that constantly surrounds the traveller — towering cliffs, deep wadis with date plantations, ancient terraced farms, hidden villages, juniper trees, pomegranates, olives and roses clinging to rocky slopes, together with dramatic landscapes shaped over millions of years.
The changing light over the mountains, the silence of remote valleys, the fresh mountain air, and the experience of dipping into the crystal-clear natural rock pools hidden within the wadis during treks offer travellers a rare opportunity to slow down, disconnect from modern stress, and reconnect with nature. Equally magical are evenings spent under star-filled skies in desert camps, listening to stories shared by Bedouins around the fire and experiencing the timeless spirit of the desert.
Oman also invites travellers to explore pristine beaches where turtles often come ashore to nest, snorkel around the beautiful Daymaniyat Islands among colourful coral reefs, schools of tropical fish, and marine turtles, or enjoy a traditional sunset dhow cruise or a kayak trip along the coast.
Equally memorable is the warm interaction with local communities, the Jebalis, living in these remote mountain areas. Along the trekking routes of Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams, visitors are often welcomed with traditional Omani coffee and fresh dates, followed by friendly conversations with local families and farmers.
Travellers can observe traditional farming methods, ancient falaj irrigation systems, terrace cultivation, and a way of life that reflects respect for water, land, and natural resources in one of the region’s most challenging environments.
At Miracle Oman, we promote responsible and sustainable travel guided by the principles of “leave no footprints behind.” We encourage travellers to explore natural places with respect, minimise environmental impact, support conservation efforts, and help local communities benefit directly from tourism activities.
People at the heart of everything we do
At Miracle Oman, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to fostering a workplace and wider community where every individual is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. Our employees enjoy a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environment, with equal access to professional growth regardless of gender, nationality, or background — reflected in our near-equal gender representation across the team. We uphold freedom of association, open communication, and fair employment practices fully aligned with Oman's Labour Law.
These practices reflect our belief that responsible tourism begins with how we operate every single day.
Sustainability Training for a Responsible Tourism Future
As part of our ongoing commitment towards responsible tourism, we conduct annual sustainability training programs for our internal staff, guides, suppliers, hotel partners, and other key stakeholders in the tourism sector to stay updated with the latest sustainability trends, practices, and industry expectations.
In November 2025, the session was conducted by our sustainability consultant, Mr. Ruwan Jayasekara, focusing on sustainable tourism practices, stakeholder responsibilities, environmental and cultural preservation, and the importance of working together towards a more sustainable future for tourism in Oman. The program also highlighted practical actions and best practices that can be implemented in day-to-day operations to create a positive impact on the industry, local communities, and the environment.

Open communication
Regular staff meetings, quarterly satisfaction surveys, and confidential grievance handling ensure every voice is heard and every concern taken seriously.
Well-being beyond work
Social gatherings, outings, shared adventures — from trekking to canyoning — and personal support during challenging times strengthen the Miracle Oman family.
Responsible Supply Chain
Sustainability extends beyond our own operations — it lives in every partnership we choose
01.
Local & regional first
We prioritize local SMEs and individual suppliers who share our values — favoring energy-efficient partners using renewable energy.
02.
Human rights compliance
All suppliers must comply with local labour laws and human rights standards. Zero tolerance for child labour, forced labour, or discrimination.
03.
Annual evaluation
Sustainability expectations are embedded in every supplier contract, and partners are reviewed annually to ensure continuous alignment.
04
Every dirham counts
By building a supply chain rooted in shared values, every dirham spent supports a more sustainable and inclusive tourism economy for Oman.
Support for Local Communities
Responsible tourism must create real, lasting value for the communities that make Oman extraordinary.
Local activity suppliers
All adventure suppliers — mountain camping, canyoning, trekking, canoeing, mountain biking — are sourced locally, ensuring economic benefits stay within the community.
Local organizations
We partner with the Oman Women's Association and local cottage industries, weaving these connections into our guests' experiences. A portion of annual profits funds community-based tourism initiatives.
Farmers & fishermen
From meals in heritage homes to authentic encounters with fishing communities, every experience fosters genuine cultural exchange while supporting local traditions.
Projects that leave no trace
Mutrah Trail Clean-Up Hike
The Miracle Oman team conducted a clean-up hike along the Mutrah hiking trail — one of Muscat’s popular yet heavily littered mountain trails. During the hike, the team collected and correctly disposed of several bags of garbage, directly contributing to the preservation of a natural public space.
Trail pollution poses a serious threat to Oman’s biodiversity, natural landscapes, and the quality of visitor experiences. By removing waste and ensuring proper disposal, this initiative helped reduce environmental hazards, protect local wildlife, and maintain the trail’s ecological integrity.
This activity reflects our “leave no trace” principle and our commitment to environmental stewardship beyond day-to-day operations.
Our friendly, committed and professional team not only aims on giving you the best experiences of Oman Hospitality but also offer comfortable travel coaches (Deluxe) and vehicles (4×4, Sedan cars) and will always maintain ethical standards and provide the best of services just for you.
Wakan to Jabal Akhdar Trail Clean-Up
The Miracle Oman team undertook a demanding 9-hour hike along the lesser-travelled route from Wakan Village to Jabal Akhdar — one of Oman’s most challenging mountain trails. Despite the difficulty of the terrain, the team collected garbage throughout the trail, ensuring waste was responsibly disposed of upon completion.
Remote and less frequented trails are particularly vulnerable to pollution, as waste often goes unnoticed and unaddressed for long periods. This initiative helped protect a fragile mountain ecosystem, preserve the natural integrity of a culturally significant landscape, and highlight the importance of responsible behavior in off-the-beaten-path destinations.
A reflection of our commitment to environmental stewardship in every corner of Oman — not just the well-trodden ones.
