DAY 01 Arrival at Muscat International Airport – Overnight at Muscat (30 KM)

DAY 02 Hotel in Muscat – Ain Thawarah - Wadi Bani Awf (off road) – Wadi Ghul - Jabal Shams – Overnight at Nizwa (Private vehicle with Guide) (320 KM)

Visit the beautiful date oasis of Ain Thawarah with its hot water springs. From the sites of the valley a multitude of small hot water springs combine to create the water supply which irrigates the oasis of Nakhal. The Oasis near the spring offers many shaded walks.Read more…

Drive through “Wadi Bani Awf” goes through beautiful scenery and connects all the way to Bilad Sayt village by crossing the Hajar Mountains and offers some of the best off-road driving experience you can find in Oman.

Take a drive up to the top of Jabal Shams which is 3,000 meters high; where you can witness the Oman highest mountain which can be seen from a vast area in northern Oman. South of its peak are the areas accessible to visitors who arrive on the road from Al Hamra. In winter, occasional falls of snow dust its upper reaches, creating one of the more unexpected sights in Oman.

Visit Nizwa Souq which lies in the vicinity of the walls of the famous Nizwa Fort. Its building embraces both traditional and modern architectural lines. Through its many alleys and divisions, Nizwa Souq has remained for hundreds of years home to a number of local industries, such as daggers, copper, spinning, livestock sale, fish, vegetables and handicrafts.Read more…

Dominating the town of Nizwa today as it has done for centuries is Nizwa fort. This is a “must-see” while you are in Oman. The Fort dates from the mid 9th century and has been a seat of power in Oman until the mid 20th century. Inside the old fort is an informative exhibit on the region’s eritage. The Fort is full of hidden surprises; when you are in the living accommodation, search for the secret escape tunnel, then take the stairs that limb through the main tower to find several more unexpected features. 

Visit the substantial Bahla Fort sits on a small hill. The fort is one of the oldest in Oman. It is one of the UNESCO world Heritage sites with its lofty vestibule the main citadel in the southeast of the for is the oldest part. 

Visit Jabreen Castle dates back to 1670. It was built to resemble the most beautiful palaces of that period. This castle was a beautiful palace for the Immam and his family and a bastion during wartime. It was also a beacon of education and contained many study rooms.Continue to Al Hamra and visit Bayt Al Safah museum which is one of the famous museums in Oman. The museum is known as a “living museum” and it has the shape of an old Omani house, which provides an exceptional experience that resembles the ancient Omani lifestyle.

Visit Misfat Al Abriyeen village, nestled up in the higher ranges of the Jebel Shams mountain range. It was built more than 300 years ago by nomadic tribes travelling throughout the region.

DAY 04 Hotel in Nizwa - Al Manzifat - Wadi Bani Khalid - Wahiba Desert - Overnight in Wahiba Sands - (Private vehicle) (290 KM)

Visit the village in ruin of Al-Manzifat. The narrow alleys enhance the traditional architecture where it was necessary to protect itself against the raids and the tribal wars that the country knew during the Middle Ages.

Cascading through narrow channels in Wadi Bani Khalid, the perennial water flow from the southern eastern Hajar mountains has been dammed to create the reservoirs needed to irrigate the date palms in the valley below at Muqil. These clear pools of water, populated by freshwater fish, also provide a backdrop for picnics. Around the pools, charming vistas and short walks through small valleys and abandoned houses encourage you to enjoy the beauty of this location.

Arrival at the entrance of the Wahiba desert. The dunes reach 200 km in length and 100 km in width to the Arabian Sea and have been the land of the Bedouins for 7,000 years. Possibility to venture into the high dunes and watch an unforgettable sunset in the desert, and then safely reach the camp.

DAY 05 Camp in Wahiba – Sur visit – Wadi Tiwi – Wadi Shab - Muscat - (Private vehicle) (300 KM)

Visit Sur, a placid seacoast town with its striking traditional dwellings, is a pleasant getaway and one of the most important towns in the Eastern region. A trip through Sur’s labyrinth of streets reveals many fine old houses with carved doors and arabesque windows. From the corniche, the dhows in the harbour can be seen against the scenic backdrop of the Gulf of Oman.

Visit Wadi Tiwi. It has been visited by explores for centuries. Ibn Battuta described its following streams, which still course through the valley today as carefully controlled Aflaj (the plural for Oman’s Falaj water system). Several small villages are overlooked by the valley’s cliffs; their inhabitants have carefully managed the water to create small farms with date palms, papaya, banana and more. 

Take a photo stop at the Wadi Shab, easily one of the top highlights of Oman.  You will have a short walk in the plateau of the Eastern Hajar mountains depth through honey-coloured rocks.
